HTC One M8 is the new Android beast from HTC. M8 is a beautifully designed phone by HTC. If you see this smartphone for the first time, you will surely be in love with that.

The new HTC One M8 looks more metallic but not. The phone looks amazing. Design is very impressive. This phone contains a bigger display with HTC’s best Sense 6 software and latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat running over it. This smartphone is the best smartphone ever made by HTC. Its brilliant because of its simplicity.

M8 contains a 5-inch HD display with 1080p resolution and 440ppi pixel density.

  • Design & Build

What can i say about the design of M8. Its brilliant, beautiful, attractive and mind blowing. This phone is somewhat bigger than previous HTC One. Now you will use power button very less because of “Motion Launch” and double-tap to wake. You can wake up the phone by double tapping it. Power button is now on right side of top. The speakers are punched on front side of phone.

On the back side of the phone, it looks much more polished. Curves up on the corner and side of phone looks totally amazing. The corners are now rounded, This phone looks slim and comfortable to hold.

  • Display

HTC do not make any commitment for the display technology in HTC One M8. The new M8 contains a 5-inches bigger display with Full HD resolution of 1080p resolution and pixel density of 440ppi. The screen looks much more vibrant and color rich. In normal condition while browsing web, playing games and watching videos, the screen looks great. But in sunlight, the phone’s display doesn’t gives much satisfaction.

  • Hardware

Hardware inside M8 is great and satisfying. The phone contains Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor (MSM8974AB) cloaked at 2.5GHz and Adreno 330 graphics processing unit. The processor is backed by 2GB of RAM. Internal storage is 16GB which can be expanded up to 128GB with microSD card. Overall the performance of the phone is very smooth. HTC has made the phone’s software much more polished so that it run smoother with its hardware. The BoomSound  speakers of the phone is much more improved than predecessors. 25% louder than its predecessor.

  • Software

HTC One M8 runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6 UI over it. Like most KitKat Launchers, the status bar and virtual navigation bar looks transparent. There are three soft touch keys for back, home and recent apps. Blinkfeed is a major feature of HTC smartphones and its green by default but you can change its color. Most features of Sense 6.0 is same as of previous version.

The new fonts on its UI looks much more impressive. Now HTC’s proprietary apps like Gallery, Zoe app and Sense TV comes dedicated on play store. New Features like Motion Launch and double tap to wake are nice to see.

There is new Extreme Battery Saving Mode. HTC claims that with this power saving mode, one can get 15 hours of backup with just 5% of battery and 2 weeks with full battery. This feature is not set for US users because it need testing. But there will be an update will arrive soon.

HTC has now dropped the feature of Cloud Storage of Dropbox in favor of Google Drive.

  • Camera

HTC One M8’s rear camera is 4MP Ultra-pixel  and Front camera is 5MP. The rear camera is capable of taking great pics even in low light conditions. Its other competitors like Sony Xperia Z2 are capable of taking much more polished pics than this. Camera is supported by Dual LED Flash of colors amber and white. Photosphere is finally implemented in this phone to take.

There are modes like regular camera, video capture, HTC’s Zoe camera, selfie mode, a dual-capture mode for using both front and back cameras simultaneously also “Pan 360” mode.

Overall the camera is build for an average user not for a pro user specially for taking photos.

  • Connectivity & Sensors

For connectivity this smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ b/ g/ n/ ac, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, DLNA, Infrared, Wi-Fi Direct, Micro-USB, 3G, 4G LTE. Compass, Accelerometer, Proximity, Ambient, Gyroscope and Barometer sensors are include in this phone.

  • Battery

I am impressed with Battery capacity of HTC One M8, which is 2600mAh. It does not mean battery back up is poor. Battery backup of this phone is greater than its predecessors. With  a decent use, this phone’s battery can lasts up to 15hours. With use of Extreme Power Saving Mode, it can last up to 15 hours with just 5% of battery. The battery is not removable.

Cons Of HTC One M8

  • Normal Screen

The display of HTC One M8 is normal looking and not up to the mark. In bright sunlight, its display doesn’t provide much clarity. It doesn’t boast any display technology like in Samsung Galaxy S5, AMOLED Screen.

  • Big Phone

The size of One M8 is something big than its predecessor. Although its great, but not great for holding it in hands. Its takes stretching of hands to do some normal operation of the phone. Width and Height has been increased as compared to its predecessors.

  • Battery

The battery capacity of this phone is just 2600mAh which low for this type of high end smartphone.

Conclusion

The new HTC One M8 is a beautiful android phone. Its a super design phone. Its price in India is Rs. 49990. Price is also right for the product. Its only have two weak points of No Screen Technology and Camera quality.
